babouche

babouche

$50.00

Before the modern mule, there was the babouche, a Moroccan slipper having no heel. They are often made of leather, but you can find them woven in brightly dyed wool or decadently ornamented silk. The pointed toe is considered Arabian style, while a rounded toe comes from the indigenous Berber people of North Africa. I couldn’t resist a soft blue pair with the tiniest red and white tassels over almond-shaped toes.
